FALL BREAK!

THIS WEEK WAS FALL BREAK!
I loved every minute of it.

I started with a trip to St. Louis to visit my Grandma and go to a wedding :) It was really great to see Grandma. She is 92 and still as lively as ever. She is all about her garden. I tried my hardest to keep track of all the plants she introduced me to, but the lady has an insane memory. She told me she had 48 trees in her yard and she could tell me what each of them were. WOW. Grandma's house/yard really felt like FALL! :)

After flying back to Atlanta, I headed home to meet my boyfriend and then we drove to Orlando! We met up with some of his friends that were staying down there for the week. We went to Universal Studios/Islands of Adventure. I LOVED IT! I love roller coasters :) Thursday we went to Disney's Not-So-Scary Halloween party at Magic Kingdom. It was great! We got to go in the park at night from 7-12! It was definitely an adventure, but my bank account really hurts from the trip! Orlando is an expensive town! I can safely say I will not be going back there for a while.
It was a fabulous fall break but I feel even more exhausted than before break. As I type this, I am laying in bed and I don't plan to move from here ALL DAY.

Happy Fall Y'all!

life or something like it

I graduated from college in May and spent the first month of post-grad life entirely consumed with uncertainty about what was coming next. I would literally feel fear then excitement then I would cry thinking about how I had no idea what I was doing with my life... I was terrified.

Thankfully I have the most supportive boyfriend, friends, and family. I struggled through a few teaching interviews and passed out a lot of resumes before deciding against moving back home. I figured staying where I had been student teaching would give me a better chance of getting a sub position/job in the area.

I was in luck! I applied to be a substitute in the county where I had done my student teaching and the BOE called me the next morning asking if I would consider a paraprofessional position.

Yes... paraprofessional. While this is not the MOST appealing idea I had considered, I did not hesitate to accept the offer. I drove to the school that afternoon and met with the principal. I had actually done some practicum work there about a year ago so it was nice to be familiar! They offered me a job on the spot and I started the next day. WHIRLWIND!

During the interview, they informed me that most of their para hires get full-time teaching positions quickly! As I begin this new phase of my life I am hopeful that it will get me where I need to be.

My foot is in the door... TEACHER OR BUST!

we'll see how this goes...

I figured post-grad life should be documented. It isnt much now but someday it might be something and I might want to remember how I got there!
